What Is DI/DM Water?
In short, ions removed water is called deionized/demineralized water. Ions are charged particles, meaning that they have a positive or negative electrical charge. Many of the impurities in water are dissolved salts, a type of ion. When water is passed through the DI system, the ions are easily removed, including minerals like iron, sodium, sulfate, and copper, leaving clean, high pure water quickly and affordably.
Demineralized water is generally defined as having between 1-10 mg/L (ppm) of total dissolved solids (TDS). 1 ppm corresponds to 1 mg/L.
